The Life of a Showgirl is the twelfth studio album by the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. It was released on October 3, 2025, through Republic Records. Swift recorded it in Sweden with the producers Max Martin and Shellback, during the European leg of the Eras Tour in 2024.
Inspired by the tour and her romantic relationship with the football player Travis Kelce, Swift conceived The Life of a Showgirl as a vibrant and lively album reflecting her triumphant state of mind. The result is an upbeat pop and soft rock record about their celebrity and contentment in love. The singer Sabrina Carpenter has a guest feature on the title track. Swift adopted a showgirl-inspired art direction for the album, collaborating with the fashion photographers Mert and Marcus; journalists described it as the most provocative, glamorous, and flamboyant visual aesthetic of her career.
Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl on Kelce's sports podcast New Heights on August 13, 2025. Alongside the album, the opening track "The Fate of Ophelia" was released as the lead single, whereas a launch event and film, titled The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, began a limited theatrical release in over 100 countries.
Critics were polarized over The Life of a Showgirl; praise was directed towards its breezy sound and joyful lyrics, while criticism dubbed it inferior to Swift's previous works, deeming it lyrically and sonically underwhelming. Commercially, the album registered the highest single-day sales in United States history, with 2.7 million copies sold in its first day of release.
