Thoushaltnot

Smith Alexander Reed is an American academic and musician. He was the leader of the industrial music group ThouShaltNot from 1998 to 2013, and since 2013 has led the project Seeming. As of 2026, he is a professor of music at Ithaca College. His academic works include the 2013 book Assimilate: A Critical History of Industrial Music. As described in a review of Assimilate, Reed is an example of a "fan-scholar".
